Life Coaching Lessons — ‘It’s not the right time’
Do you ever find yourself procrastinating when it comes to putting yourself out there and selling your coaching products and services?
If you do, know that you’re not alone. This feeling is quite common among coaches, and it can be a significant barrier to success. That’s why today, I want to address a topic that is likely familiar to many of you: “It’s Not the Right Time.”
When I first embarked on my coaching journey, I often felt that the timing was never right. I was plagued by self-doubt, questioning whether I was truly ready to present my ideas to the world. This internal struggle became even more apparent as I began to coach other coaches. I realized that I wasn’t the only one facing this challenge — many of my peers were experiencing the same fears and hesitations.
Curious to understand this phenomenon better, I started researching and observing the behaviors of other coaches. What I found was a pattern: the majority of coaches hesitate to put themselves or their programs out there because of a deep-seated fear of judgment. This fear is rooted in our tendency to seek approval from others. We’ve been conditioned to believe that acceptance from others is paramount, and as a result, we often prioritize this over our own dreams and goals.
This fear of judgment can be so powerful that it leads us to forgo our potential, stalling our progress and holding us back from achieving success. It’s a cycle that can be difficult to break, but it’s essential to recognize that the belief that “it’s not the right time” is often just a manifestation of this fear.
So, how do we overcome this barrier?
How do we move past the fear and start taking action?
I’d like to offer you a simple yet powerful mantra that can serve as a reminder whenever you catch yourself thinking that it’s not the right time or feeling that your work isn’t ready yet. Instead of saying, “It’s not the right time,” or subconsciously believing that “It’s never the right time,” begin to form the habit of saying, “NOW is the right/perfect time.”
This shift in mindset is not just about positive thinking; it’s about taking immediate action. As soon as you adopt the belief that now is the right time, follow it up with a concrete step toward your goal. This could be anything from reaching out to a potential client, posting about your services on social media, or finally launching that course you’ve been working on. The key is to act immediately, without allowing fear to take hold.
Of course, fear is a natural response when we step out of our comfort zones. It’s important to acknowledge this fear but don’t let it stop you. When fear shows up, try this approach: acknowledge it, thank it for its concern, and then surrender it. Fear doesn’t have to dictate your actions — it can simply be a signal that you’re moving in the right direction, pushing beyond your limits.
By embracing the mantra “Now is the right/perfect time,” you can start to build momentum. Each small step forward reinforces your confidence and diminishes the power of fear. Over time, you’ll find that the actions that once seemed daunting become second nature. You’ll be more willing to put yourself out there, share your gifts with the world, and grow your coaching business in ways you never thought possible.
Remember, the perfect moment to start may never come on its own. You have the power to create that moment. So, why wait? Now is the right time to take action, to pursue your dreams, and to unlock your full potential. The world is waiting for what you have to offer — don’t let fear hold you back.
