Life Coaching Lessons — ‘STOP Chasing The Money’
When I say, “Stop chasing the money,” I often get puzzled looks — especially since I’m a Money Mindset Coach who loves talking about money. But there’s a very specific reason I use this phrase.
When I speak with potential clients, I always ask why they became coaches. Their answers usually involve a powerful, personal story, and you can see the inspiration and joy in their hearts when they tell it.
However, after spending a significant amount of time trying to build their business and relentlessly chasing income, that initial inspiration often fades. What once fueled them — their passion and purpose — gets overshadowed by the pressing need to bring in money. They start to doubt their abilities, searching for new ways to market themselves just to make a sale.
This is a painful lesson for many coaches. They begin to think, “Maybe I don’t have what it takes,” or “People aren’t interested in what I offer.” But the truth is, they’ve lost their spark, and potential clients can sense that loss.
This lesson is especially critical in today’s digital age when the market is saturated, there is fierce competition, and AI-generated content floods our screens. It’s become almost impossible to know what really works.
So, what can you do when faced with this dilemma?
Return to what ignites your passion and inspires you. Show up from that place. Reconnect with the zest for life and the passion that led you to the coaching path in the first place. Remember what’s at the core of your work. Find what excites you to get out of bed in the morning and keeps you engaged throughout the day. Make space for that inner calling to guide you toward a life of fulfillment where both impact and income coexist harmoniously.
To help you rediscover your spark, here are a few questions to reflect on:
- What excites me most about coaching?
- What initially drew me to become a coach?
- Why is helping people so important to me?
Take the time to gain clarity on these answers. When you start your day or feel discouraged, revisit your responses. Use them as a daily reminder to keep your flame burning bright, especially when you feel like you’ve lost your momentum.
