“The Price is Right… or Is It?”

When I first started as a coach, charging for my services felt like asking someone to pay for air. “Who am I to charge for this? What if they say no? What if they laugh in my face? What if they think I’m a fraud?” And the worst one: “What if I charge too much and they figure out I like tacos way more than I like kale?😋”

So, I did what any self-respecting overthinker would do — I undercharged. I mean waaay undercharged. My first package was basically a “Buy One Coaching Session, Get a Lifetime of Confidence Free” deal. The clients were happy, but I was broke.

One day, as I sat staring at my bank account (which was lower than the price of my favorite latte), I had a revelation:

IF I DON’T VALUE MY WORK, WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE?

That’s when I decided to make a change. It wasn’t easy. I started practicing saying my rates in front of the mirror like I was rehearsing for Shark Tank. “$2,000 for six weeks of coaching.” I said it so many times, I began to believe it myself. And guess what? When I finally mustered the courage to say it to a potential client, they didn’t laugh or run away. They said: “Sounds fair to me.”

Cue the angel choir.

Here’s the truth: charging for your services isn’t greedy — IT’S NECESARY. It allows you to show up fully for your clients, to invest in your own growth, and to serve the world in the best way possible. And honestly? It’s a beautiful exchange of energy.

Now, every time I quote my rates, I remind myself of this journey. I remember that I earned the right to charge what I’m worth. I’m not just charging for my time; I’m charging for my years of experience, my expertise, and the life-changing transformations I deliver.

So, if you’re struggling to charge what you’re worth, I see you. I’ve been you. And here’s your permission slip to own your value. Charge what you’re worth — and then some.

Because you know what? Those tacos aren’t going to pay for themselves.
